伊豆山郷土資料館

熱海市立伊豆山郷土資料館は、伊豆山神社の宝物を中心に伊豆山地区に伝わる、郷土資料を展示しています。

特に、県指定文化財の走湯権現立像や宝冠阿弥陀如来像など、 往時の信仰を考えるうえで貴重な資料を展示しています。

また、「頭髪曼荼羅」（複製展示）は、源頼朝の夫人北条政子が、正治２年１月１３日頼朝の一周忌の日に、自らの髪の毛を除髪してこれを刺繍し、伊豆山権現の法華堂の本尊として阿字一幅を奉納したと鎌倉幕府の記録著「吾妻鏡」に記録されている蔓荼羅です。

Izusan Local Museum

Izusan Local Museum is located beside the Izusan Shrine.  It exhibits treasures of the shrine and historical collection of Izusan area, including Statue of Hashiriyu Gongen God and crowned amitaabha.  Enjoy the mystic and serene atmosphere of the Izusan Shrine with a long history and honorable origin, as well.  The shrine also preserves a hair-embroidered Mandala in 1200 of Hojo Masako, a wife of MInamoto Yoritomo, the first Kamakura Shogun.  She made this piece with her hair when she became a nun on the 1st memorial day of her husband's death.  (Ordinarily its copy is in display at the museum.)

●Directions: In front of "Izusan Shrine" on the Yu-yu Bus on the MOA/Izusan Shrine Route or on the local bus on the Izusan Jinja Route from Atami Station (approx. 10-min-ride).  It is about 6 min. on a taxi from Atami Station.
●Fees: 150 yen (adult), 100 yen (senior high school and college students), 50 yen (elementary and junior high school students)  Group discount applicable to those over 20 members.
●Open: 9-16:00 (last admission 15:30)
